WHOIS Lookup

Look up domain registration details including registrar, dates, and name servers via RDAP.

A WHOIS lookup retrieves a domain's registration record — its registrar, creation and expiry dates, last update, name servers, and status codes. This tool queries the modern RDAP protocol (the structured successor to legacy WHOIS) directly against each registry. Use it to check who manages a domain, when it expires, or whether it's locked against transfer.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?

RDAP is the standardised, JSON-based replacement for the old text WHOIS protocol. It returns structured, consistent data and is what this tool uses.

Why is the registrant’s name hidden?

Privacy rules such as GDPR and registrar privacy services redact personal contact details. Registrar, dates, and name servers usually remain visible.

What do the status codes mean?

Codes like clientTransferProhibited or serverHold describe the locks and states a registry applies to protect or restrict a domain.

Why can’t some domains be looked up?

A few country-code TLDs publish no public RDAP service, so their registration data isn’t available through this tool.

How do I tell when a domain expires?

The expiration event in the record shows the date; many registries also reflect renewal grace periods in the status codes.
